Keto Fries

“Fries” can be made from zucchini, avocado, daikon radish, turnips, rutabaga, jicama and many other veggies. Slice into sticks, bread and fry or bake.

The following is more fry like and make a great substitute. You can also roll thin and cut into triangles to make tortilla chips or form into tot shapes.

These are not my invention, I have just put all the variations in one place. As far as I know the original recipe was the almond flour version created by Heavenly Fan

Keto Fries


Almond Fries: (9.5 net)

  • 1 cup (100g) almond flour
  • 3 tsp xanthan gum
  • 6 tbsp HOT water
  • pinch of salt

Lupin Flour: (4 net)

  • 1 cup lupin flour
  • 1 tbsp xanthan gum
  • 7-8 tbsp HOT water
  • pinch of salt

 Coconut Flour: (12 net)

  • ½ Cup (50g) coconut flour
  • 3 tsp xanthan gum
  • 7-8 tbsp HOT water
  • pinch of salt

Almond/Coconut Mix: (22 net)

  • This is a bigger batch than the others
  • 1 cup (100g) almond flour
  • ½ cup (50g) coconut flour
  • 6 tsp xanthan gum
  • 1 cup HOT water
  • Salt & Pepper


  • Add ¼ – ⅓ cup fresh grated parmesan cheese for a extra crispy result. (+3-4 net)
  • Sprinkle with sweetener & cinnamon
  • Sprinkle with garlic and parmesan


  1. Place flour and xanthan gum in a mixing bowl, mix well. (Food processor works great)
  2. Add in hot water and mix/knead the dough till all the ingredients are blended together. (Or mix in food processor until ball forms)
  3. Leave to rest for 15 minutes.
  4. Roll out the dough till it reaches 1/4 cm thickness, cut it into slim strips (French fries shapes).

Fried (Skillet or Deep)

  1. In a frying pan, add in a generous amount of oil (enough to cover the fries). Maintain medium to low heat.
  2. Gently place the dough strips in the pan and fry them till they are golden brown on all sides.

Oven method:

  1. Place the dough strips on a baking tray (lined with baking sheet and greased with oil).
  2. Brush a generous amount of oil on top of the to-be French fries and bake in a 400°F preheated oven till the fries are golden brown (10-15mins).
  3. Toss the fries around in between to make sure they bake evenly on all sides.
  4. Transfer the fries to a plate lined with kitchen towels (to remove access oil).
  5. Sprinkle with salt or seasonings of choice

Air Fryer:

  1. Spray lightly with oil and cook for about 6 minutes at 400.
  2. Sprinkle with salt or seasonings of choice
